Thrift+ is a B Corp!

5th October 2022

Thrift+ is officially
a B Corp!

We're proud to announce that Thrift+ has become a B Corp, joining the growing global movement of over 5,000 companies putting people and planet first.

With a mission to prevent fashion waste, it was important to the whole team that we meet the highest possible standards of social and environmental practices - so we decided to take on the (daunting!) challenge of B Corp Certification.

Achieving B Corp status means that the not-for-profitB Lab has certified that we meet exacting standards across five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Becoming certified was a rigorous process, and as part of it we legally embedded our commitment to purpose in our company articles.

We are thrilled to join the UK B-Corp community, which includes change makers like Patagonia, The Guardian, and Innocent.

As we celebrate this major milestone, here are some achievements we’re proud of:

400,000 items recirculated

We are incredibly proud to have re-homed almost half a million items, which means they are back into circulation and attracting people to shop preloved rather than new.

£2,000,000 raised for charity

Together, we've made a real difference to many U.K. charities, big and small. We've been able to turn un-loved clothes into donations, raising funds for good causes like Cancer Research UK, NSPCC and Crisis.

20+ Circular fashion partnerships

Through partnerships with major brands like FARFETCH, LK Bennett, and FatFace, we’ve championed resale and introduced thousands of people to an easy solution for giving their clothes a new life. This year, Drapers recognised Thrift+ as the 2022 Recommerce Award winner, describing us as "ahead of the game in powering take-back and re-sale services for the fashion industry."

201,700 kgs of CO² offset

Our aim is to reduce our CO² output wherever we can, but where it’s unavoidable we offset it. Earlier this year we completed our first carbon footprint assessment for Scope 1, 2 and 3 and have offset our emissions with accredited carbon credits. Read more here.

This is just the start...

Over the next three years we will be working hard to ensure we are able to surpass our current B-Corp score and do even more good.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us to get to this place! You can see how we did on the B Impact Assessment here, and we’re here to answer any questions at hello@thrift.plus
