We are open!
We are closely following the latest government advice to businesses and, at this stage, the government has only asked a specific set of businesses to close to the public (e.g. pubs, restaurants, theatres). For other businesses, they have asked that their employees work from home if possible. But for those where employees cannot work from home, the government is encouraging these businesses to stay open while implementing additional health & safety practices.
At Thrift+, the health & safety of our warehouse team is our top priority. And so we have put in place additional measures to ensure that our team are able to abide by the social distancing advice when they are travelling to work, in the warehouse, and on their breaks.
Our team is currently at full strength, and there is no delay to upload or dispatch of your items. So, please do continue to donate and shop as 'normal'.
For our donors
We recognise that dropping off your ThriftBag at your local Collect+ drop-off point is unlikely to qualify as an 'essential activity', so we do not recommend doing this at this time. However, in response to this challenge, we have launched a doorstep collection service so that you can keep donating from the safety of your home.
To book a collection, please log in to your Thrift+ account and click 'View' on your ThriftBag order. Look for the 'Returning your ThriftBag' section and click on the link.
Of course, please do abide by the social distancing rules when the courier arrives to collect. We suggest ensuring that it is a 'contactless' exchange!
For our shoppers
We have had one or two questions about the safety of second-hand clothes regarding transmission of the virus, so we thought it may be useful to explain our processes. In particular, the timeline and the limited contact with our staff, so you can have confidence in the hygiene of any item you purchase.
When we receive our donation bags, they are put into a holding cage for 1-2 weeks before they are processed. This is a deliberate design of our processes to ensure that our team always have enough bags to process, but this also happens to be a useful 'quarantine' period for all the clothes we receive.
After they have been photographed, each item is folded into an individual (100% recycled) plastic bag where it stays until it is ordered by you!
We dispatch our items second-class, meaning it will be a minimum of 2-3 days between our staff handling your item and it arriving at your house. As with any home deliveries, we suggest asking the courier to leave the parcel on the doorstep to ensure 'contactless' delivery.

For returns, we recognise that during this period it will be harder, and sometimes not advisable, to go to the Collect+ store or post office to return items to us. For this reason, we have extended our returns period from 30 to 90 days.
